LoCo Beans® — Fresh Roasted Coffee, Inc.

LoCo News (December 15th) — While Thanksgiving is in the rear view mirror, hopefully we’re keeping the spirit of ‘thanks’ alive in all that we do. With the Christmas holiday in full swing now, the pace at the silo is pretty fast. (We’ve noticed that it’s a tad cooler as well, but we’re managing both so far!). In summary, Ho Ho Ho!

We’re right now in a supply gap with the El Salvadoran natural-processed coffee. For those of you who might not know, the owner of Los Tios Grill also owns a coffee farm in El Salvador. Only a few times in the ~14 years that we’ve been in business have we received unsolicited samples that fit our model of offering the finest beans from interesting origins. This was one such case. Reason for the gap is that they are still navigating the process of establishing a coffee import business. A little like the ad-hoc arrangement we have with Chanzo Coffee (for Ugandan beans).

We continue to receive great enthusiasm for the 100% Kona Natural that have gone through the dried-in-the-fruit “natural” process that created a crisply sweet, low-toned cup with a quiet background of acidity. These beans are carefully roasted to preserve notes of chocolate, sweet lime, and buttery cashew nut. If you’re a coffee enthusiast, or even just someone who appreciates a truly flavorful cup, you owe it to yourself to explore natural-processed coffee. Natural processing is where coffee cherries are dried with the beans still inside, unlocking an ensemble of flavors that are simply unattainable through washed processes. Imagine:

  • Intense Fruitiness: Expect vibrant notes of ripe berries, tropical fruits, and even stone fruits like apricot and plum. This isn't just "coffee flavor," it's a complex, layered experience.

  • Rich, Syrupy Body: Natural processing imparts a heavier, more viscous mouthfeel, creating a luxurious and satisfying texture.

  • Sweetness Amplified: The drying process concentrates the natural sugars in the cherry, resulting in a naturally sweeter cup, often with hints of chocolate and caramel.

  • A Unique, Wild Character: Each natural processed coffee tells a story of its origin, with distinct and often surprising flavor profiles.

This isn't your everyday coffee. It’s an adventure for your taste buds, a journey toward exploring the real characters of the coffee beans.

P.S. Many customers have brought to our attention that they couldn’t see the Local Pickup option in the Shop page so we have added a new addition to the FAQ page on how to choose Local Pickup.

Safe handling and delivery of coffee

LoCo Beans made some changes a while back to address these challenging times.  Credit card processing is completely hands-off; only the customer handles their credit card and no signatures are required.  We will, of course, continue to observe stringent cleanliness standards during all counter operations.  Our silo dropboxes — there are three now — remain a popular and convenient way to order/receive coffee; just order online and we’ll place your coffee in a dropbox for you to pick-up at your convenience. We appreciate your confidence and trust!
